Sergel, Johan Tobias

Swedish royal sculptor and draughtsman.

Johan Tobias Sergel was a pupil of the sculptor Pierre Hubert L’Archevêque in Paris. Sergel designed the statue of King Gustav III and the accompanying plaster cast model, which Johann Conrad Fischer had seen and admired on his journey through Scandinavia.
