The shilling is the name of a currency unit in many countries.
In Great Britain, there were 12 pence in the shilling and 20 shillings in the pound sterling.
The shilling was at one time the name of a currency or coin in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Ireland, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
