L’Archevêque: Gustavus II Adolphus on Horse

Equestrian statue of the Swedish king, commissioned in 1758, and by Pierre Hubert L’Archevêque.

After LʼArchevêque’s death, the commission was continued under the direction of his student Johan Tobias Sergel. The date of the casting is estimated to be between 1779 and 1791. The statue was inaugurated in November 1796.

During his wandering years Johann Conrad Fischer visited this famous equestrian statue.
