Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (1837–1901); as of May 1876 she also bore the title Empress of India, the first British monarch to do so.

During Queen Victoria’s 63-year rule, the British Empire reached the apogee of its political and economic power. The upper and middle classes experienced unparalleled economic prosperity in this era known as the Victorian age.
