Steam engine, in which atmospheric pressure does the work and depresses the piston.
The task of the steam is to create a negative pressure in the cylinder through cooling and condensation.
Thomas Newcomen’s atmospheric steam engine of 1712 is considered the first commercially successful steam engine in history. It was used in mining as a water pump.
